doTERRA's Roman Chamomile essential oil is soothing and calming and can be used for a number of applications. Its uses date back to Ancient Rome and Greece where it was used for wound healing and digestive or skin issues - my mother always smothered us with white chamomile lotion for our sunburn. For centuries the daisy-like chamomile flower has been used to make a calming tea which is great before bedtime.
Similarly, this oil can be added to water or can be drunk as an additive to tea - one drop is enough. It's very soothing for the nervous system and is an excellent choice of oil to diffuse in your home or child's bedroom if they have difficulty sleeping. It has a sweet herbaceous smell.
While the most common use of chamomile is in teas, Roman Chamomile can also be found in face creams, drinks, hair dyes, shampoos, and perfumes. Roman Chamomile has a calming effect on the skin, mind, and body.
The plant reaches only up to a foot in height. It has grey-green leaves, flowers that resemble a daisy, and smells like apple. .
