For general wellbeing, lie down slowly with your back on the mat and your head on the pillow and distribute your weight evenly on the mat. Allow the thousands of pinacles to activate your pressure points to release, tension, negative energy and emotional blocks. This will work on your back, neck, shoulders and head. If you have a particlar area that needs addressing, apply pressure to that area.
Stand on the mat for five to 10 minutes to enjoy the benefits of reflexology. There are many pressure points on the soles of your feet which link to all other areas of your body, limbs and internal organs. Allow the spikes in the mat to stimulate other areas of the body.
When lying down, start off with 10 minutes and work your way slowly up to 30 minutes lying flat on the mat. If you want to address lower back issue, lie with your knees slightly bent to gently press your lower back into the mat.
At first you can wear a thin t-shirt if it helps but then work up to lying bare skinned on the mat. Beginners can use their mat on a bed or sofa to release the pressure. You can also use it while sitting on a chair for a gentle pressure massage while you work.
More experienced users can place the mat on the floor. Use consistently in order to feel the benefits.
Does it hurt?
For most, the Acupressure Mat can be uncomfortable at first. Don't give up too soon though because the longer you lay on the mat, the easier it feels - push through it! Soon, any discomfort transforms into sensations of tingling, pulsing, and a general warmth which starts to spread around your body, leaving you with a profound sense of calm, well-being, and restoration.
The concept of acupressure
The concept of acupressure has been around for thousands of years, dating back to 400-200BC in India, with the traditional 'Bed of Nails'. It's based on the concept of acupuncture, but rather than puncturing the skin, the aim is to improve overall wellbeing by applying pressure to the thousands of pressure points in the body.
Integrity & Quality
The name of the mat, Halu, comes from a Reiki Symbol representing eternity. Each Living Vitality Acupressure Mat is infused with loving, healing Reiki energy for your wellness and wellbeing.
